SCHOOL STARTS AUGUST 11, 2010.
STUDENTS WILL ATTEND FOR A HALF-DAY ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.
8:30 AM – 11:50 AM (No Meals)

REGULAR SCHEDULE STARTS AUGUST 12, 2010.
STUDENTS WILL ATTEND A FULL DAY OF SCHOOL.
8:30 AM – 2:45 PM (All Regular Meals)

Sports Day this year will take place at the GCHS track during the school day instead of after school. Girl’s Sports Day is scheduled for Tuesday, May 11 from 9:00-12:30 and Boy’s Sports Day is scheduled for Wednesday, May 12 from 9:00-12:30. The high school track has been reserved for the morning of Thursday, May 13th in case either date is rained out.
The School Picnic is scheduled for Friday, May 14th from 12:45-2:30. Thanks to the PTA and all the parents who have planned and will work to make this year’s picnic another fun-filled and exciting event.

The Independent Reading Program (IRP) Awards are scheduled for Thursday, May 20 at 9:00 for the K-2nd grades and 10:00 for the 3rd-5th grades. Parents are welcome to attend. Speaking of IRP, we have already begun next year’s IRP Program. It began on April 7, the day after this year’s deadline. All books read from this date apply toward next year’s goal. We have set our first goal of 25 books by May 17th. Anyone with 25 books read by then will be treated to a popsicle at lunch and a chance to win some great prizes. Students may read up to a total of 50 books over the summer break.
Our Second Semester Awards

Assembly is scheduled for Friday, May 21st at 12:45 in the gym. Parents are welcome. We will give out the honor roll, perfect attendance, band, music, and PE awards to name just a few.

Besides these school-wide events, many classes will be taking their field trip, the kindergartens will have their class plays, and we will be honoring our 5th graders with several events. Please watch for flyers with more information regarding special events this month.
